Accepting payments via QR code
Payments via QR codes enable your customers to pay securely and contactless. It only takes a scan of the QR code with their phone. You can either print the QR codes or send them to your customers.
How do payments via QR codes work?
It’s simple:
1. Your customer uses their phone to scan the QR code on display in your
store.
2. For a first time transaction, they download the SumUp.io consumer
app and set up their credit card. It just takes a minute.
3. Your customer scans the QR code again with the app, enters the
amount, and pays.
Customers will see a confirmation screen on their device, which you can use
to validate the payment. You can also open your transaction history to view
details about the payment.
For any future payments, it’s even faster: Customers simply scan with their
phone and pay securely. Completely contactless.
How can I set up a QR code for my business?
In just a few steps you will be up and running:
1. On the SumUp App, tap “QR Codes” on the Home screen.
2. Click on “Create QR code”.
3. Give your code a name and leave “Set price” unchecked.
4. Click “Save”.
5. Click on the QR code you just created and choose “QR code for shop
display”.
6. You see a preview of your display as a PDF. Click on the share button,
to either directly print the display on a printer connected to your phone
or send the display to your email address to print it from a desktop
computer.
You can then either present the printout in a display stand or attach it to your
point of sale. You can also send the QR code to your customers via email,
SMS, or other messaging services, such as WhatsApp.
Can I include a QR code in a document or design
of my own?
Absolutely!

to use.
2. In the action sheet choose “QR Code”.
3. You can now choose any option your phone offers to send a file to the
device on which you would like to create your design, e.g. via email.
What are the fees?
The transaction fee for payments by QR code is 1.69%.
Can I use a QR code more than once?
In general, you can use the QR Codes multiple times. You have to
differentiate between QR Codes with fixed amounts and dynamic QR
Codes. QR codes with a fixed amount have a specific amount stored. When
the customer scans this QR code they are asked to pay the fixed amount.
With dynamic QR codes, your customer enters the amount themselves. So
if you accept many different payments, it is recommended to set up a
dynamic QR code, because your customers can pay all amounts via this QR
code.
How do I send my customers a receipt when they pay with QR code?
If you want to send a payment receipt to your customers, open the
transaction history on your SumUp app. Now select the respective
transaction and click on the extended menu. From there, you can send the
receipt to your customer by e-mail or SMS.
