What are SumUp Gift Cards?

SumUp Gift Cards are digital gift cards that customers can purchase online. As long as you have a SumUp account you can activate Gift Cards in the SumUp App, there’s no additional setup required. Gift cards can be purchased at any price and redeemed with your business later on. Currently, there are no expiration dates for SumUp Gift Cards. 

How do SumUp Gift Cards work?

Using the SumUp App you can generate a Gift Card link that can be sent to customers for them to purchase a gift card. After purchase, customers will receive an email with the gift card details and a code, which can be redeemed with your business later on. You can view all sold gift cards on the overview Gift Cards page in your SumUp App. 

After clicking on your gift card link, customers will have to follow these steps to purchase their gift card: 

1. Enter the amount of the gift card
2. Input their name and email address
3. Agree to SumUp’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy
4. Tap on “Continue” to proceed to the secure payments gateway
5. Enter in their payment details
6. Select “Pay”
7. Once processed, a confirmation message will appear on the screen
8. The customer will receive their gift card directly to their email

In addition, SumUp offers free customization tools for your gift cards, from setting preset gift card amounts, applying discounts, and selecting designs your customers can choose from. To access customization features, simply tap the gear icon from the main “Gift Cards” page through the SumUp App.

How much do SumUp Gift Cards cost?

Thanks to our commitment to transparent pricing, you only pay 3.25% of the total gift card amount + $0.15 on every gift card purchase. No monthly fees, no hidden costs.

Are SumUp Gift Cards secure?

Absolutely — all SumUp Gift Card pages use the same secure technology as the rest of the SumUp payment infrastructure.

How can I share gift cards with my customers?

You can share your gift card links on social media and messaging platforms, post it on your website or send your customers an email letting them know gift cards are now available for purchase. 

Can my customers send gift cards to others?

Yes, to send a gift card as a gift to send someone else, your customers can follow these steps: 

1. Click on your business’ gift card link
2. Enter the amount of the gift card
3. Input their name and email address
4. Check the box “This gift card is for someone else” and add the recipient’s information
5. Agree to SumUp’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy
6. Tap on “Continue” to proceed to the secure payments gateway
7. Enter in their payment details
8. Select “Pay”
9. Once processed, a confirmation message will appear on the screen
10. The recipient will receive their gift card directly to their email

How can I view all of the gift cards I’ve sold?

After you’ve sold your first gift card, simply:

1. Log in to your SumUp App
2. Tap “More” in the bottom menu bar
3. Select “Gift Cards”
4. Here, you’ll see a total and history of your sold gift cards

To share your gift card page once again, simply tap the share tab at the top left-hand side of the screen.

Who is eligible to sell SumUp Gift Cards?

Unfortunately, we can’t activate the gift card product for every type of business due to several regulations that we have to follow as a financially regulated company. You can find more information and a full list of restricted businesses here. 

Step-by-Step-Guide to selling SumUp Gift Cards

1. Log in to the SumUp App. Select the “More” tab, then “Gift cards”.
2. If you’d like to add customized features, tap the “Settings” icon in the top right corner of the Gift Cards menu. You can apply discounts, preset amounts and choose the designs that your customers can pick from.
3. After customizing, return to the main Gift Cards page by selecting “Done” in the top right corner.
4. Tap the “Share Gift Card Page” button to copy your Gift Card page link. This is the page where your customers can create and purchase gift cards.
5. Send the link to your customers via email, social media, your website, and more. Gift cards can be purchased at any price without an expiration date.
6. View all your sold gift cards in the overview shown in the “Gift Cards” section of the SumUp App.
