Are you looking to enhance your business’s efficiency and professionalism? Look no further than the SumUp 3G Printer – your all-in-one solution for printing receipts on the go. It’s not just a printer; it’s your mobile charging station and the perfect cradle for your 3G Card Reader. In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about maintaining and using your device.
But before we dive into the details, remember that for seamless printing, your 3G Card Reader needs to be connected to either WiFi or a cellular network. Speaking of internet connectivity, the best part is that your 3G Card Reader comes with unlimited data, so you don’t have to worry about additional cellular data charges. You can also connect to your local WiFi network.
Printing Your Way: On-Demand or Automatic
The SumUp 3G Printer is all about flexibility. You can choose between printing receipts on-demand or having them print automatically after every transaction. Here’s how to set it up:
If auto-print is turned off, your receipt options will pop up after the “Payment approved” message. Just hit “Print receipt” to get a hard copy. With auto-print turned on, your receipts will print automatically right after the “Payment approved” screen. Just set it and forget it!
Remember: To ensure successful printing, attach your card reader to the printer before pressing the green tick to complete the transaction. If you connect it after the transaction has started, printing won’t be possible.
Attaching and Detaching Your 3G Card Reader
To print those important receipts, make sure your SumUp 3G Card Reader is firmly attached to the 3G printer before you hit that green tick. Here’s how to do it:
Attaching is quick and easy. Just slide the top of your 3G Card Reader into the top of the printer and push the bottom end down until you hear it click into place. Detaching is a breeze too – just press the button on the front of the printer while pulling the card reader up.
Don’t forget to check the manual for more tips and tricks on making the most of your 3G Printer.
Printing Past Transactions and Troubleshooting
Need to print a receipt from a previous transaction? No problem! Follow these steps:
And, just in case you encounter any paper jam error, remember to tear your receipts across and upwards. If things go awry, follow these quick steps:
Replacing the Paper Roll
Each printer comes with three paper rolls – one in the printer and two refills. When you run out of paper, a message will appear on your card reader. Look out for faint red lines on your printed receipts as a signal. Here’s how to replace the paper roll:
Charging Cradle: Keep Your Devices Ready
When plugged into a power supply, the printer will charge both itself and your attached 3G Card Reader. A red LED beside the charging port indicates charging, and it turns green when fully charged.
Check your printer’s battery level by following these steps:
Make sure you use the provided charging adapter, or if you opt for a third-party one, ensure it meets these specs: 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A and supports USB C to USB C charging. Using an incompatible adapter may damage your printer.
Expand Your Printing Options
SumUp supports various receipt printers that connect to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, enabling you to offer physical paper receipts to your customers. For this to work, you’ll need the SumUp App and an Air Card Reader. Here’s a list of supported portable printers:

The Sumup 3G Printer has fallen out of favour to the Sumup Solo and New Sumup Solo Printer Kit. Which is a sturdy little standalone device. Whilst the £G Printer is a great little piece of kit, it is our older option. The Solo is much more interactive, with lots of added features which the 3G doesnt have.
